The description of Fortnite
One of the games that defined 2018 for the industry, Fortnite Battle Royale is more than just a title: it’s a trend. Welcome to the island of lone survivors! Pick your weapon and do your best to stay alive: fight, run and fortify!
When speaking of mobile Fortnite, we don’t have to mention that this is Battle Royale mode, with the simplest narrative possible: one hundred deploys, one survives. Everybody is your enemy on the island you need to explore, and in the meanwhile, the lethal storm is coming, so all survivors are pushed closer to each other. It doesn’t take long to connect and wait until other players are ready, as there are lots of them at any time online, and the AI doesn’t have to select opponents by level.
The most unusual part of the game is its combination of fighting, exploration, and building. The pickaxe you have initially will help you with obtaining materials for your fortifications. The weapons can be found virtually anywhere, though you should first search the nearest buildings.
Though it’s far from photorealism, it’s good enough to impress with its grandeur. The island you’re deployed to is large, with some small towns and various biomes. Your character moves quite naturally, with grace and ease. Though there are some arcade conventions (like unnaturally easy leaps and nonstop running), the rest looks real enough.
It’s easy to explore the island in several games, due to mini-map always available, But it won’t make the game dull if you’re here for long. Though the core remains intact, Fortnite gets constant updates each season, featuring new biomes and locations, new outfits and weapons and new vehicles.
General Impressions 10/10
There is some untold fascination in Fortnite, that almost musical drive when you get led by the process. The game is quite easy to control due to common principles it follows: joystick in the left, camera in the right, buttons all around. You can aim, hide, run, jump or simply walk around, and if you’re lucky, you will find a plane to fly.
The building part is quite simple, but it does its job or bringing fortification elements into the gameplay and making it unique. If the game was even a bit more complicated, it would have raised its entry threshold and make it less attractive for casual players.
The game is highly replayable, though there’s no upgrade at all and maybe, just due to this fact). All you can upgrade by playing more is your own skill. Yes, you can spend some real money on V-Bucks, but they only can buy you some appearance customization and no real advantage.
Last but not least: it doesn’t require as much performance as some other games of 2018. Even rather old devices can run it. And due to compatibility with most modern platforms, you can keep playing it on your PC or console if you want to try different controls.
If you like quality action games and somehow stay unfamiliar with Fortnite, you need to fix it right now. Fortnite is one of the most prominent arcade action games of the late 2010s, and it will keep its position in nearest future. So it’s definitely worth your attention and time.11 Dec 2018
